Stauros International Association was founded within the Passionist Congregation, in the wake of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). In an effort to renew and update its spirituality, Passionists / Passionistas / Passionisti commit themselves to promote the memory and study of the Gospel of Jesus Passion, especially in its relation to the experience of human suffering. Stauros (= Greek word for "Cross") International Association was founded in October, 1973. Since then its seat and General Secretariat is located in Kortijk, Belgium. Frans Damen, CP, From the beginning an ecumenical spirit of openness and of collaboration with other religions and Christian traditions has characterized the initiatives and projects promoted by Stauros. Stauros International Congresses and Workshops have been organized
in several countries. It also has a specialized research library. |
